By David Muller Senior Editor, SME Media

HP Inc. is unveiling a new PA 12 S nylon-based material at this week’s Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) Conference in Chicago.

Developed with Arkema Group, which specializes in material science and design, the new material is already being used by companies such as Accel Digital Solutions, Decathlon, Erpro Group and Materialise for aesthetic parts, HP says in a press release.

The new material is aimed at streamlining production processes and ultimately reducing costs for customers who use the company's Jet Fusion 5200 Series 3D printing solutions. It will be available for the Jet Fusion 5600 Series this spring.

PA 12 S material has an industry-leading 85% reusability ratio to help minimize waste, according to HP.

In addition to the new material, HP says it has worked with Arkema, BASF and Evonik on developing a variety of polymer materials including thermoplastics and elastomers.

At AMUG conference, running March 10-14, HP will show parts using the new PA 12 S material for its industrial 3D polymers.
