Manufacturing For All

Manufacturing is comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is a time to recognize and pay tribute to the individuals from this community making an impact on manufacturing.

In honor of the Asian American and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month, we observe the critical role of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders involved in STEM careers supporting the manufacturing sector. Award Winning Manufacturing

Jian Cao, PhD, FSME has been a member of SME since 1996 and is now the 2022 winner of the inaugural ASME Devor-Kapoor Manufacturing Medal. This award recognizes an individual or a team of researchers for a body of impactful achievements in the field of manufacturing. Cao currently sits on the SME Board of Directors alongside a diverse group of manufacturing leaders including members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineers

These SME members are helping shape the future of manufacturing. The 2023 Delcie Durham Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineers Awards is intended to recognize the exceptional contributions and accomplishments of young manufacturers. Lili Cai, Yong Lin Kong, Cindy “Xiangjia” Li, and Hongyue Sun are just a few of the young standouts representing the AAPI community who were recognized this year in a class full of exceptional award-winning engineers.
