WESTEC 2019 Makes Successful Debut at New Location

On Sept. 24, WESTEC 2019, the leading West Coast manufacturing event, opened for the first time at its new location: the Long Beach Convention Center. The three-day event showcased the latest in machinery, metrology, design, digital, 3D printing, and engineering expertise. At WESTEC, produced by SME and AMT—The Association for Manufacturing Technology, attendees connected with leading manufacturers in the aerospace, medical, industrial machinery and consumer goods industries—many of them located in the thriving California manufacturing industry.

WESTEC 2019 was held Sept. 24-27 at the Long Beach Convention Center and hosted more than 10,000 attendees.

Visitors evaluated the latest technologies while meeting with the experts who developed them. Complimentary educational sessions were geared toward industry executives, including interactive Knowledge Bars, keynote addresses and informative new-product demonstrations. Advanced technologies were covered at the Smart Manufacturing Hub, featuring leading technology providers. The educational sessions were all held at the SME Zone.

Continuing a tradition of providing solutions to manufacturing challenges for 55 years, WESTEC 2019 welcomed over 10,000 attendees who participated in exhibits, education sessions, networking events, and more. The WESTEC 2019 show floor spanned 150,000 square feet and hosted 450 exhibiting companies.

Manufacturing influencers spoke throughout the three-day event, including three keynote presentations: Tom Wujec, an expert on Innovation, a fellow at Autodesk and Adjunct Professor, Singularity University, spoke on The Future of Making on Tuesday, Sept. 24; Brian Beaulieu CEO and chief economist for ITR Economics, examined the Economic Outlook For Manufacturing Through 2023 on Wed., Sept. 25; and Fredi Lajvardi, STEM Educator and the subject of the documentary, “Underwater Dreams,” and the IMAX film “Dream Big,” discussed “Embracing New Technology, Empowering Teams: How Creativity And Teamwork Can Inspire Your Manufacturing Process,” on the last day of the event, Thurs., Sept. 25.
