Materialise, a global leader in 3D printing software and services, is undergoing a significant leadership transition. The company's Board of Directors has selected Brigitte de Vet-Veithen to take the helm as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). She will succeed Fried Vancraen, the co-founder of Materialise, who has served as the CEO for 33 years. Vancraen, in turn, will assume the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors. This change of leadership is set to be effective from January 1, 2024.
Materialise's mission, founded by Vancraen, has been to create a better and healthier world. Speaking about the transition, Vancraen stated, "Thirty-three years later, the company has reached an ideal point to bring in new leadership to take us into the future. This transition represents an evolution of leadership, not a departure."
Brigitte de Vet-Veithen brings over 30 years of leadership experience across multiple industries to her new role. She joined Materialise in 2016 and currently holds the position of Executive Vice President of Materialise Medical. Her leadership has been instrumental in making the medical segment the company's fastest-growing and most profitable business division.
As she steps into the role of CEO, de Vet-Veithen expressed her excitement about the future, stating, "As we take this step, I celebrate our roots as 3D printing pioneers, but I am even more excited about our role as pioneers of tomorrow’s possibilities. As 3D printing establishes itself as an essential tool in the production toolbox, Materialise is ideally positioned to capitalize on the tremendous opportunities ahead and to continue driving the growth of our industry."
Prior to her tenure at Materialise, de Vet-Veithen held senior management positions at Johnson & Johnson, operated in the technology industry as a consultant, and led companies through growth and transformation, including her role as CEO of Acertys Group. She holds a Master of Business Administration with a Major in Engineering from HEC Liege and an MBA from INSEAD.
Materialise, founded in 1990, has been instrumental in shaping the 3D printing industry and is active in 20 countries. Vancraen will continue to provide strategic direction to Materialise as Chairman of the Board, with Peter Leys transitioning from his role as Executive Chairman of the Board, although he will remain a board member. Mrs. Ingelaere, the co-founder, will step back from her role as Executive Vice President and focus on her board activities. The company's Executive Committee will continue its strategic and operational role under the new leadership of de Vet-Veithen.
