UNISIG, a global manufacturer of deep hole drilling machines, has made a significant investment in plant technology and equipment with the construction of a new 5,000-square-foot fabrication department. The company has allocated $1.5 million to enhance its in-house production capabilities and improve the quality and quantity of its components.

The investment includes the installation of cutting-edge fiber laser cutting equipment and a 242-ton capacity press brake with a 7-axis programmable back gage, both equipped with 3D programming and simulation software. UNISIG has also provided software training for its workforce and hired additional personnel to support the expanded operations.

By bringing more of its parts production in-house, UNISIG aims to maintain control over the quality of its components while optimizing the balance between internally produced and outsourced parts. The company sees this investment as enhancing its fabrication capabilities and inspiring and driving advancements in machine design, which will deliver increased value to its customers.

UNISIG CEO Anthony Fettig emphasized the impact of the precision fabrication team's manufacturing innovations on engineering practices and the possibilities presented by the state-of-the-art production capabilities.

The fabrication department enhancements also include advanced digital process control for MIG and TIG welding, a modular fixture system for precise component setup, and a vertical pallet system for raw sheet material storage. Additionally, the department is equipped with vacuum sheet lifting equipment and updated bridge crane controls to facilitate easy material handling for the personnel.

UNISIG serves clients all over the world from its cutting-edge production plant and corporate headquarters in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. These solutions include extensive machine, tooling, and automation options. To ensure the success of deep hole drilling manufacturers, the firm offers custom-designed systems, complete process engineering, full customer and application support, in addition to BTA, gundrilling, trepanning, skiving, and multi-process CNC machines that are produced and designed in the United States.
