“This is a prime example of how member input is leading to opportunities to execute and advance AM technologies and education and workforce development for the benefit of U.S. manufacturing competitiveness,” according to Brandon Ribic, Technology Director at America Makes, Ribic.
The second document, Methods and Approaches for Sustainable Additive Manufacturing (AM) Operations, worth $5.2 million in funding, include:
These two topics aim to develop and demonstrate sustainable practices and products through design, material selection and development, material handling and/or recycling.
The open project call is funded by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Research and Engineering Manufacturing Technology Office and the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Founded in 2012 as the Department of Defense’s national manufacturing innovation institute for AM and first of the Manufacturing USA network, America Makes is based in Youngstown, Ohio, and managed by the not-for-profit NCDMM.
