SME Smart Shop Webinar Targets Using Operating Data for Machine Tool Monitoring and Maintenance

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. --  SME Media will present a webinar, “Implementation of the IoT for Machine Tool Monitoring and Maintenance,” as part of the IMTS Spark series on Thursday, March 11 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Central Time.

The SME Smart Shop Series connects manufacturing professionals with top industry experts, sharing the latest information and use cases for today’s manufacturer. In this session, three industry experts will explore how machine tool monitoring and maintenance has become one of the most practical and useful implementations of the Internet of Things. This session will examine the state of development in sensor-based monitoring and maintenance of machines tools and how manufacturers are using it today.

The session will be moderated by Alan Rooks, Editor-In-Chief of Manufacturing Engineering Magazine. The panelists will be Guy Parenteau, Engineering Manager at Methods Machine Tools; Jim Kosmala, Vice President of Engineering at Okuma America Inc.; and Kanon Shiu, Product & Service Engineer at Chevalier Machinery Inc.

The panel will target the following questions:

  • How well developed are IIoT-based platforms for machine tool monitoring and maintenance?
  • What are the key tools that manufacturers and job shops need in order to start implementing IIoT-based machine tool monitoring and maintenance?
  • How widespread is the use of these tools and what are some of the “lessons learned” that new users can take advantage of?
  • What are some real-life examples of how manufacturers and job shops have used these monitoring and maintenance tools to improve their operations?
