This event will be split into two different sessions. The first session, focusing on students looking for career alternatives to post-secondary education during or immediately following high school, will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00. The second session, focusing on workforce development and training/apprenticeship opportunities for adults seeking employment and new career pathway opportunities, will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The virtual event will be hosted by Lorain County Community College in the Reaser Grand Room at the Spitzer Conference Center. To register for the 2020 Virtual Manufacturing Day Event, visit www.LCMSP.org, and click on the “Events” menu tab. Once registered, you will receive an email confirmation with a Zoom link. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the physical event is not open to the public and will only be shown via Zoom. Please ensure you have internet access and have downloaded the Zoom app included in the registration confirmation email.
The virtual event will consist of a live panel of representatives from Lorain County Manufacturing Sector Partnership member companies, and its partners. The purpose of this event is to inform the public of the many job openings within the manufacturing industry that lead to long-term career pathways here locally in Lorain County. The event will also present different training, internship, and apprentice programs LCMSP member companies offer. Most of these opportunities do not require adults or students to have previous experience-- only the desire to learn and earn more for a rewarding future for themselves and their families. In 2019, LCMSP member companies hired over 500 new employees.
As an added bonus, the event will be moderated by Mr. Bruce Morey, Senior Technical Editor, Manufacturing Engineering Magazine, who will be asking panelists various questions pertaining to workforce development and the different types of jobs and training opportunities currently offered by their companies. Manufacturing Engineering Magazine is a national magazine, operated by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), that serves U.S. engineers and other manufacturing professionals who use manufacturing technologies. SME is a nonprofit association of professionals, educators and students committed to promoting and supporting the manufacturing industry.
