AMUG Reschedules, Relocates Conference

By SME Media Staff

Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) said today it is rescheduling and relocating its annual in-person AMUG Conference because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The conference is now set for May 2-6, 2021, in Orlando, Fla. It had been scheduled for March 14-18 in Chicago.

“The AMUG Board is committed to planning for an in-person event and will continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and related government restrictions at the federal and local levels,” Carl Dekker, AMUG president, said in a statement.

“The board has been developing alternate plans that will allow us to adapt to changes as developments occur that relate to COVID-19 and in-person events,” he said. “Considering the current and projected circumstances, it was necessary to change the dates of the conference.”

The conference will now be located at the Hilton Orlando.

“Even with social distancing protocols in place, this property can accommodate a full-scale AMUG Conference, and it also affords AMUG the opportunity to host outdoor activities,” said Tom Sorovetz, AMUG event manager.

AMUG said 70 sponsors and 100 exhibitors are applying their 2020 commitments to the coming year. The organization will determine the number of openings to participate at the 2021 event. All new sponsors and exhibitors are being placed on a waiting list.

Conference registration has been paused and will reopen on Jan. 6.
