SME, the nonprofit association committed to advancing widespread adoption of manufacturing technologies and developing North America’s talent and capabilities, today announced its lineup of 2024 Susan Smyth Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineers.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 10, 2023 – Tooling U-SME, the workforce development division of SME, has been named one of the 32 winners in the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) AI Tools Competition, one of the largest education technology (edtech) competitions globally.

SME Media, the publishing division of SME, the nonprofit dedicated to the advancement of manufacturing technology and fostering manufacturing and engineering talent and capabilities in North America, today launched its new digital platform, AdvancedManufacturing.org.

Completed applications must be received by the Nominating Committee no later than February 15. Applications received after February 15 will not be eligible for consideration.

Since 1986, the SME College of Fellows has honored those members who have made outstanding contributions to the social, technological and educational aspects of the manufacturing profession. These nine industry professionals have earned this highly prestigious honor through 20 years or more of dedication and service to manufacturing.

These five SME International Honor Award winners are recognized for their significant contributions to manufacturing in the areas of manufacturing technologies, processes, technical writing, research and management.

The 2017 Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show (CMTS), being held during the ongoing observance of Canada’s sesquicentennial, will welcome attendees to a new world of manufacturing innovation and opportunity. CMTS, produced by SME, returns to The International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Sept. 25-28.

The newly re-branded and updated “Aubin AM Case Study Award” looks to recognize innovations in application of AM technologies. The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding use cases of AM adoption and implementation and to provide inspiration to others in their journey of AM application.
