Paper Submission Guidelines

Papers submitting to NAMRC 46 must be prepared using the conference-specific paper template in Microsoft Word* or LaTeX, and strictly follow the instructions in the template. NAMRC papers should only report unpublished materials of the authors, and/or state-of-the-art reviews. Quality papers after review will be recommended to be fast-tracked to SME's "Journal of Manufacturing Systems" (JMS) and "Journal of Manufacturing Processes" (JMP). To submit a paper to NAMRC 46, please select one of the six tracks for submission via EasyChair:

Track 1: Manufacturing Systems – General Submission
Track 2: Manufacturing Processes – General Submission
Track 3: Additive Manufacturing
Track 4: Smart Manufacturing and Cyber-Physical Systems
Track 5: Manufacturing Education, Workforce Development and Outreach
Track 6: Industrial Applications and Manufacturing Implementation
Track 7: A Symposium on Manufacturing Public Policy: Influence R&D Investment
Track 8: NAMRI/SME David Dornfeld Manufacturing Vision Award and Blue Sky Competition
Track 9: RAMP Challenge

NAMRC paper review will be handled by the NAMRI/SME Scientific Committee. Each paper will be evaluated by at least three experts before a review decision is made. Every accepted paper, including fast-track papers to the "Journal of Manufacturing Systems" (JMS) and the "Journal of Manufacturing Processes" (JMP), must be presented in person at NAMRC 46 by the author or one of the co-authors. Unpresented, no-show papers will be removed from the NAMRC 46 Proceedings in ''Procedia Manufacturing," or from JMS/JMP.

Option for Industrial Authors
Authors from industry can submit full papers until Nov. 30, 2017. Authors from industry, who cannot get permission to submit full papers, are allowed to submit an abstract for “presentation only” at NAMRC 46. For abstract submission in this case, industrial authors should also use the NAMRC paper template but provide title, authors, affiliations and abstract only. Abstracts should be submitted via EasyChair, for assessment by the Scientific Committee. However, these abstracts will NOT appear in the NAMRC 46 proceedings.

Options for Students
A student coauthor of a paper accepted by NAMRC is eligible to participate in the annual Student Research Presentation Award. This award is based on the student's oral presentation of the paper at the conference. The student presentations will be part of regular technical sessions and have the same time limitations.
Eligibility as a student is established as long as an individual is an undergraduate or graduate student, full or part-time, at the time of their oral presentation of the paper at the conference. Postdoctoral and research engineers are excluded because they are generally considered staff members.

For general questions regarding paper submissions, please contact the NAMRI/SME Scientific Committee Chair Lihui Wang, PhD, FSME, PE, or Chair-Elect Livan Fratini, PhD.
