3D Systems Quarterly Earnings Plunge 86%

3D Systems said its fourth-quarter profit slid 86% on higher costs and spending for its expansion plans.Fourth-quarter profit totaled $1.55 million, or 1 cent a share, down from $11.2 million, or 11 cents, for the last three months of 2013, according to a statement. Full Article

Hybrid Manufacturing Technologies Ltd. has won the first-ever International Additive Manufacturing Award.The company, based in the United Kingdom and Plano, TX, won for a hybrid kit that can be added to a computer numerical control machine to add 3D printing capability, according to a statement by the Association for Manufacturing Technology. North American Robotics Market Has Strongest Year Ever in 2014

Robot orders and shipments in North America set new records in 2014, according to Robotic Industries Association (RIA), the industry’s trade group.  A total of 27,685 robots valued at $1.6 billion were ordered from North American companies during 2014, an increase of 28% in units and 19% in dollars over 2013. ExOne Says 6 New Materials Now Printable on Its Systems

ExOne Co., a maker of 3D printing machines, said six new materials are now printable on its systems, a move that may expand markets for additive manufacturing.The six materials are: Cobalt-Chrome, IN Alloy 718, Iron-Chrome-Aluminum, 17-4 Stainless Steel, 316 Stainless Steel and Tungsten Carbide. Cobalt-Chrome and IN Alloy 718 are used in aerospace. Full Article
