2025 SkillsUSA Challenge

2025 Driving the Future: AM for Electric Vehicles

This year’s theme highlighted the transformative potential of additive manufacturing (3D printing) in shaping the next generation of electric vehicles. Contestants were challenged to explore how innovative design principles, combined with the flexibility of 3D printing, can redefine the way EVs are conceptualized, manufactured, and optimized for performance. The focus on electric vehicles reflected the global shift towards sustainable transportation and the urgent need for creative solutions to meet this challenge. Participants were encouraged to think beyond traditional design boundaries, leveraging the unique capabilities of additive manufacturing—such as complex geometries, lightweight structures, and rapid prototyping—to integrate the provided electrical components into functional and forward-thinking vehicle designs.
