SME Launches Humans of Manufacturing to Share Real-Life Stories from Industry Professionals October 13, 2017 by SME Communications Storytelling initiative highlights the people of manufacturing and showcases technology (DEARBORN, Mich) — SME is pleased to announce it has launched Humans of Manufacturing — a new digital channel including e-newsletters, social media and a website, where manufacturing professionals will share their personal stories, while also showcasing how manufacturing today is advanced and highly valued as an industry. “We created Humans of Manufacturing to showcase everyday people who are really making things happen in manufacturing,” said Jeff Krause, chief executive officer, SME. “Manufacturing is high-tech, constantly evolving and advancing — and, so are the individuals who make up this vital industry.” The first story of this series launched on Manufacturing Day, Friday, Oct. 6, and featured GE Engineer Joshua Mook. Mook’s story highlighted his longtime love affair with aircraft and flying, later leading him down the engineering and aerospace career path. View his story here. Today, the latest featured Human of Manufacturing is Frank Xydias, engineering instructor at Milford High School & Applied Technology Center in Milford, NH, and his advanced engineering students. Xydias and his students helped 10-year-old Morgan Peterson design and manufacture her very own bike adapter. Morgan had a prosthetic left forearm, which made it difficult to ride her bike, causing her to opt out of family bike rides. Now with her new bike adapter she can ride her bike in comfort and enjoy bike rides around the neighborhood and while on family vacations too. View his story here.
