Senior Design Engineer
Memphis Chapter 105
Jim Whitehead became involved in SME while completing his bachelor’s at the University of Memphis in 2002. He transitioned into the senior chapter the following year as chair-elect. Whitehead has held an officer position every year since, and recently became an SME membership consultant for Central Arkansas Chapter 123 and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff S348. In addition to his SME involvement, Whitehead served on the Memphis-Area Joint Engineers Council for several years assisting in organizing Engineers Week activities, including an annual design competition for area middle and high school students. He was selected as the MJEC/SME Featured Engineer in 2010. Being a design engineer with a manufacturing degree coupled with practical experience in several areas of production has proven to be most beneficial in both sound design and expediting time to market for new products. Whitehead holds several patents in the electrical field and one currently pending in the area of plumbing. Member Since 2002
