Alcoa Foundation recognized for its continued support of the Education Foundation’s national Partnership Response In Manufacturing Education Initiative
(Dearborn, Mich., May 16, 2016) ― The SME Education Foundation has awarded Alcoa Foundation with the 2016 Outstanding Partner honor for its continued support of the Education Foundation and its Partnership Response In Manufacturing Education (PRIME®) initiative. With Alcoa Foundation’s backing, students, teachers, and high schools have access to 21st-century technology, equipment and curriculum, thus helping to create a sustainable, tailored approach to workforce development.
“Thanks to the generous contributions of partners like Alcoa Foundation, the SME Education Foundation has been able to introduce even more youth to advanced manufacturing career pathways,” said Brian Glowiak, director of the SME Education Foundation. “We appreciate everything Alcoa Foundation does to help us prepare the next generation skilled workforce for successful careers in manufacturing.”
Alcoa Foundation has been a dedicated supporter of PRIME since 2011, and as one of the first funders of this initiative, the Pittsburgh-based organization has committed to investing a total of $750,000 through 2018. This funding is transforming manufacturing education programs at high schools near Alcoa facilities in southern California and Ohio.
“Alcoa Foundation is honored by this recognition,” said Ryan Kish, program manager at Alcoa Foundation. “The PRIME initiative is helping to build resilient communities through a better prepared advanced manufacturing workforce.”
