Description

Generally, the most widely used and accepted powder application methods fall into the following categories: fluidized powder-bed processes; electrostatic fluidized-bed processes; electrostatic powder spraying; and other electrostatic-application methods, including discs and bells. There are basically two styles of electrostatic fluidized beds, those with electrodes immersed in the powder bed and those with a remote charging media. Electrostatic spraying is the most widely used method of applying powder-coating materials. This process is the most efficient and effective means of applying powder coatings. In addition to proper selection and set up of feeders, pumps, hoses, and powder applicators, a number of other factors can affect the end result. Managing booth airflow and selecting the correct nozzle or pattern shaping device, advantageous applicator placement, and pump settings all contribute equally to the electrostatic effects.
