Almost every small shop uses some form of bench top bench motor or pedestal-mounted motor. These are identified by several names and each is used for a specific market segment. With the exception of bench and pedestal grinders, these motors are relatively difficult to find. The most commonly used motors include bench motors, small, second-operation machines, mechanized thread chasers, bench lathes, speed lathes, polishing lathes, alloy grinders, bench grinders, pedestal grinders, and industrial buffers. At least three types of bench motors are commonly used in the deburring industry. They include the belt driven motor with three-jaw chuck, the belt-driven motor with a series of collets, and a direct drive with three-jaw chuck.
