Abrasive paper products are also referred to as bonded abrasive products or coated abrasives. In this text, the term abrasive paper products is used because the majority of products are abrasives bonded to paper or paper-like material. Bonded abrasive products are found in almost every shop in the world because they are flexible, convenient, inexpensive, and available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. There are 40 basic shapes of abrasive paper products commercially available and some of the obtainable size ranges. Bonded abrasive products are made with aluminum oxide abrasives, ceramic aluminum oxide, alumina zirconia, silicon carbide, emery, flint, garnet, boron carbide, and even diamond- or tungsten-coated particles.
