A simple industrial engineering time study can reveal the potential in your company for reducing costs. After costs are obtained, they must be compared to a base value, such as any one of the following: total annual dollar cost, cumulative dollar total (over several years or thelife of the program), percentage of shop operator hours, percentage of machining costs, percentage of sales dollars, industry cost comparison, and/or specific industry percentage cost comparison.
