New Manufacturing Technology To Create 2016 Honda Acura NSX

Honda engineers gave new details about the next generation Acura NSX at SAE 2015 World Congress and Exhibition, held in downtown Detroit this week, and a host of new manufacturing technologies were necessary to make the car a reality.At least one of those technologies, ablation casting, will be used for the first time in the automotive market, when production begins on the car later this year at the new Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, OH.  Full Article

OSHINO, Japan – FANUC Corp. last week used its annual open house to display the production version of its collaborative robot – where man and machine work together instead of the robot being fenced off -- as the Japanese company moves into the market with a model that can lift more weight. Lightweighting: Ford to Develop Carbon Fiber for High-Volume Auto Manufacturing

Ford and DowAksa have signed a joint development agreement (JDA) to formally advance research on cost-effective, high-volume manufacturing of automotive-grade carbon fiber, a material poised to play a significant role in the drive to make vehicles lighter for greater fuel efficiency, performance and capability.The agreement, between Ford Motor Co., Ford Global Technologies and DowAksa —a 50/50 joint venture between The Dow Chemical Company and Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayii A.Ş—will combine DowAksa’s feedstock capacity, carbon fiber conversion and downstream intermediates production capabilities with Ford's expertise in design, engineering and high-volume manufacturing.
