Norbert Hanke president of Hexagon Metrology envisions a future where metrology - to provide full value to manufacturers - must aid them in developing new products faster and help them manufacture them quicker. To do that, he sees metrology technology continue to migrate to the shop floor, using more non-contact sensing as well as highly specialized, dedicated systems for single-use tasks. The result in just a few years may well be a flood of data that will require the next level of development in handling large sets of metrology data.
