3D Help Wanted: Additive Manufacturing Technicians

As additive manufacturing gains momentum, so does the need for skilled technicians to man and maintain sophisticated 3D printing machines—in addition to those who design and print 3D parts. Under a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) located in Cleveland, Ohio recently launched a certificate program for individuals interested in taking advantage of the rising opportunities in additive manufacturing, commonly referred to as 3D printing. 3D Systems Quarterly Earnings Plunge 86%

3D Systems said its fourth-quarter profit slid 86% on higher costs and spending for its expansion plans.Fourth-quarter profit totaled $1.55 million, or 1 cent a share, down from $11.2 million, or 11 cents, for the last three months of 2013, according to a statement. Full Article

Hybrid Manufacturing Technologies Wins First International 3D Printing Award

Hybrid Manufacturing Technologies Ltd. has won the first-ever International Additive Manufacturing Award.The company, based in the United Kingdom and Plano, TX, won for a hybrid kit that can be added to a computer numerical control machine to add 3D printing capability, according to a statement by the Association for Manufacturing Technology.
