Description

WebNC is an Internet-based CAD/CAM service tool for the intelligent auditing and reverse engineering of CNC part programs for 3-axis milling centers. Based on the client-server architecture, WebNC reviews CNC part programs on the client side to capture syntax and logical errors and further provides user-friendly suggestions to revise the code into an error free, compact, and efficient one. It is also designed to tutor a novice part programmer by "explaining" the code in a block-by-block fashion. This paper presents the design and implementation issues of WebNC. Authors: Ajay A. Deshpande (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA), Sanjay S. Pande (Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India).
