At Halliburton, our lean competency development is a core element of our lean transformation strategy. We believe, through development of Lean Bronze Certified Leaders, we can maximize the near-term value extended to our key stakeholders. Over the long-term, this investment is absolutely key to building a lean culture and sustaining the benefit and momentum of continuous improvement over time.

The Bronze Level Lean Leader program provided by Neovista Consulting has allowed us to create a standard training competency around lean thinking tools and principles. The 3.5-week approach allows participants to completely immerse themselves in the study and training of lean. This program has become a standard element of personal development training that brings Halliburton great value by enhancing the skills of our high-potential people. It is also something that many employees within Halliburton seek out to enhance their business skills as they develop their careers. We consider the "sweet spot" for this training to be the middle management levels, supervisors and managers. This approach has allowed us to get greater leverage and value from our lean thinking deployment. We have found that the typical "train by kaizen" approach, or a two-day immersion, does not adequately prepare lean leaders to effectively deal with a complex business environment or how to apply lean tools and principles in real-world situations for maximum results.
