UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., July 18, 2013 ― Through grants from the Central Pennsylvania Workforce Development Corp., Plastics SourceNet, of the Plastics Innovation & Resource Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology, is administering $37,750 in subsidized training to benefit central Pennsylvania plastics manufacturers and their employees.
In 2012-13, the grant funded 14 courses, with eight companies participating to train 72 employees.
An additional $48,750 from an Advanced Manufacturing grant was provided to train 15 employees from five companies in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, a set of tools and strategies for process improvement.
The Central Pennsylvania Plastics Industry Partnership is a coalition of plastics manufacturers from Centre, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties that work together to strategize and improve the industry’s collective competitiveness.
