Maximizing the parameters on a 2D cutting machine can have a positive impact on productivity and profitability. The parameters, developed by the machine manufacturer, go beyond the standard tech tables to assist fabricators with their production operations. The right balance of quality and throughput can be easily achieved by making the most of the machine’s parameters. For example, choosing air cutting over nitrogen is a faster and less expensive way to cut, but the concession is a lower cut quality. All of the required parameter and processing technique information is incorporated into the programming system as well as included in the machine control, eliminating the need to “figure it out” at the machine. This presentation will explain how decisions can be made in programming and in operation, which affect the final product in terms of cost, quality, and throughput.
