Computer-aided design or CAD involves the use of computers and software to digitally create engineering drawings and models to aid in tooling and product design. This Computer-Aided Tooling Design program explores the tools and techniques used within these four fundamental computer-aided design categories:
- 2-Dimensional CAD
- 3-Dimensional Modeling
- 3D Assembly Design
- CAD Analysis
The 2-Dimensional CAD segment examines orthographic projection, workflow, and detailing.
The 3-Dimensional Modeling segment details the use of 2D sketching, feature-based parametric 3D modeling, and design editing.
The segment on 3D Assembly Design features an emphasis on part mating/alignment, interference detection, and dynamic motion.
The CAD Analysis segment is broken down into four basic principles: Material Characteristics, Model Meshing, Boundary Conditions, and Interpretation of Results.
