A Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is an excellent system to use to move from a reactive maintenance mode to a preventative maintenance mode to an operator-based maintenance mode to a total productive maintenance (TPM) mode. Each step in the evolution of maintenance is associated with a data management method such as a note pad to record reactive maintenance, preventative maintenance tracking, maintenance information tracking program for operator-based maintenance, and an equipment management information system for TPM. There are more than 300 CMMS packages available to purchase and implement to become world class. The chapter includes an AT&T CMMS Case Study.
