Description

Process-output variables are categorized in this book in five comprehensive domains: environment, safety, quality, productivity, and profitability. Laser processing, as a relatively young technology for the metal-fabrication industry, is the subject of special scrutiny resulting in an exceptionally good safety record among all manufacturing operations. Productivity, quality, and profitability are recognized key outputs that compete with each other for precedence. Within each of these five categories, key process-output variables (KPOV) can be identified and customarily ranked for each enterprise and application. A cutting job is measured by how well the customer’s critical-to-quality (CTQ) parameters are addressed.
