AeroDef 2014: Aerospace ECS Ducting

An alternative process for manufacturing a composite and metallic environmental control system for a rotary-wing aircraft was found by using rotational molding and proprietary flight-certified nylon 12 polymer (RMB 437). RMB 437’s high resistance to impact, heat, brittleness, deterioration and chemicals has made it the preferred material for aircraft ducting. RMB 437 nylon 2 is highly resistant to impact, flame-retardant (meets FAR 25.853 and FAR 29.853 12- and 60-second vertical burn requirements) and has a proven track record in the aerospace industry. The complete ECS duct system was estimated to yield $2 million in savings annually and provide ROI in less than two months.
