AeroDef 2014: Metrology and Tool Monitoring

TMAC (Tool Monitoring Adaptive Control) is a system developed by Caron Engineering Inc. that learns a tool's cutting HP used in the machining process. It can pinpoint breakage and wear while the tool is in its cutting cycle. The adaptive control feature automatically adjusts feed rates according to variations in cutting conditions (hard/soft spots, more/less material, etc.). Corrective actions such as feed hold, cycle interrupt, tool retract, and other actions can be taken to save your machine from unnecessary downtime and costly repair.
