In a press release, Emerson Process Management announced the opening of its $30 million Americas headquarters and a new, highly automated and sophisticated manufacturing facility in Houston. The facilities are dedicated to building and delivering valve automation technologies. The press release stated that “With the oil and gas industry representing 40% of Emerson Process Management’s sales, this new headquarters and manufacturing complex extends Emerson’s presence in Houston, which also includes the new $34 million Emerson Industry Center for Hydrocarbon and Energy that opened in early 2012.” Located in Northwest Houston near the Energy Corridor, the new complex offers close proximity to more than 3700 area energy companies, according to Emerson.
The valve automation suite of products from the company includes the Bettis, El-O-Matic, FieldQ, Hytork, Shafer, Dantorque and EIM.
In reporting on the event, the Houston News (Simmons) observed that the facility currently employs 175 individuals and plans to have 250 by 2016. Overall, the company employs more than 1000 people in its Houston area locations. The article also quoted the company as saying the facility will feature a more efficient workflow, an innovation center to provide training through visual technology, a demonstration area offering hands-on experience with Emerson’s products as well as the manufacturing facility, which will expand services for the oil and gas industry. The company was also the recipient of a $1 million state grant, which helped close the deal on this project, according to the article.
