EASTEC 2013: Swiss, Screw Machine Tooling

GEHSR/L-SL tool family for Swiss-type lathes and screw machines features a side-clamping mechanism that can solve the main problems related to insert clamping and replacement. The design of the Swiss-type machine turret makes it difficult or sometimes even impossible to replace inserts on standard screw-clamped tools without removing the tool from the machine. The newly developed system enables clamping the insert by using the key from either free side of the tools, dramatically shortening insert indexing time. The GEHSR/L-SL tools are available in 3/8", 10 mm, 12 mm, ½", and 5/8" shank sizes, carrying the GEPI and GEMI inserts with different geometries in a range of 0.087–0.126" (2.2–3.2-mm) widths.
