HOUSTEX 2013: Tool Monitoring Adaptive Control

Tool Monitoring Adaptive Control
Tool Monitoring Adaptive Control (TMAC) is a system developed by Caron Engineering Inc. that learns the tools’ cutting horsepower used in the machining process. By monitoring power levels, TMAC can pinpoint breakage and wear while the tool is in its cutting cycle. The adaptive control feature automatically adjusts feedrates according to variations in cutting conditions like hard/soft spots, more/less material etc. Corrective actions such as feed hold, cycle interrupt, tool retract, and other actions can be taken to the machine from unnecessary downtime and costly repair.
