Medical Manufacturing Innovations Toronto 2012 Happens This October
After a successful launch in 2010, the Society of Manufacturing Engineer’s Medical Manufacturing Innovations event returns to Toronto in 2012. The focus of the event will be on medical and dental manufacturing, including devices such as orthopedics, joint and dental implants, prosthetics, and more. MMI Toronto 2012 is being held in order to bring manufacturers and suppliers together to share the latest medical technology, discuss solutions to problems, and network with peers. There will be a Qualified Exhibitor Pavilion, with experts present to address issues related to Health Canada and offer solutions to challenges businesses might face. The Med Tech Lab will provide demonstrations of the latest equipment right on the show floor, and there will be panel discussions by leaders in the medical manufacturing field.
Lauralyn McDaniel, Medical Industry Manager for SME, explains, “As Canada’s only event to focus solely on medical devices, MMI Toronto 2012 brings together a unique combination of suppliers who are familiar with Health Canada and other regulatory processes and puts them in direct contact with the device manufacturers who can support them in achieving those requirements.” She notes that implementing new technologies to provide superior care is not without challenges, however. Manufacturers face pressure to get products on the market quickly while also meeting strict healthcare regulations—not to mention meeting budget. This event is an opportunity for the leaders in the business to exchange ideas about how to overcome these obstacles.
There’s no question that medical manufacturing remains as important as ever, as Janine Saperson, event manager for SME, notes, “Canada’s aging population will increasingly rely on medical innovations like joint replacements and dental implants to retain a high quality of life” and describes MMI 2012 as a “one-of-a-kind opportunity” for companies to expand their knowledge.
MMI Toronto 2012 will take place October 24-25 at the International Centre in Ontario. Visit the MMI Toronto 2012 Web site for more information.
